Fall Play

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat

WHEN: November 9, 10, 11 and 12 @ 7:00 pm
WHERE: Zimmer Auditorium, Roncalli Fine Arts Center
DETAILS: The story is based on the "coat of many colors" story of Joseph from the Bible's Book of Genesis. The show has little spoken dialogue; it is almost entirely sung.

Tickets are:
 $15  Adults
 $10  9-12th Grades
  $5   K-5th Grades
Younger than Kindergarten FREE
Tickets are General Admission (guests pick their seat when they arrive, no assigned seat number).

DETAILS: Plan now to attend our 14th annual Christmas show.  Make plans to attend and reserve your tickets early, they do go quickly. This is Roncalli's gift to our many supporters. We hope to enliven your Christmas spirit through song and dance.

Drama News

I am asked on occasion how we select the shows we present each year. There is no easy answer; however, there are some underlying philosophical ideas that influence the choices we make. Because each show is different, the criteria differ as well.

One of our primary goals is to provide the opportunity to participate to as many students as possible. This includes both onstage performers and technical personnel. We also want the content of the play to be consistent with the school mission statement. Our fall production is usually a drama or comedy. This allows those students who aren't singers or dancers a chance to shine. The drawback is that there are very few plays with more than 7 or 8 significant parts so not all students who audition can be cast. We do structure our Christmas show so that any student who wants to participate can do so. This is also true of the spring musical. Students audition, and roles are selected, but everyone is cast. Therefore, we choose musicals that can accommodate large numbers. Over the years we have repeated some selections because they not only fit the criteria, but they also fit well with the talent we know we have. Fewer and fewer musicals are written that are high quality, appropriate for the high school setting, and technically possible. We have traditionally double cast the roles alternating performers each night to allow for greater participation. Our annual summer show has evolved into a "pop" music revue and is open to graduated 8th graders, Roncalli students, and alumni. This show is purely for fun, and anyone interested is included. We are proud of the range and quality of our productions and look forward to entertaining our audiences again this school year.

The Arts have flourished at Roncalli since the opening of the Fine Arts Center in 2002. This versatile complex includes classrooms for band, choir, and art, practice rooms, and dance rehearsal space. The Zimmer Auditorium, (capacity 700), provides a venue for worship, convocations, presentations, and meetings. The stunning Atrium hosts community events, receptions, and student displays.
