Roncalli launches Interactive Virtual Tour of school
Roncalli High School launched its brand new 360 degree interactive virtual tour of our school on August 29th.
We believe we are one of the only schools to offer this type of school tour where the user can see all areas of the school and do a virtual walk-through choosing for themselves where they want to go with just the click of the mouse (or swipe on a cellphone).
This virtual tour was created by 2014 Roncalli graduate, Spencer Fricke, who is currently a junior at UW-Madison majoring in Computer Engineering. This tour was created using a 360 degree camera that takes a spherical image. He created the web application using WebGL and wrapped hundreds of images in a sphere to give it 360 degrees. He added markers for the user to be able to travel from one area to the next at will. And then made the application available on all types of devices (phones, tablets, and computers).
John Stelzer, President of Roncalli, commented "we are excited to unveil " The Roncalli Experience interactive virtual tour" on our website thanks to 2014 graduate Spencer Fricke. Roncalli is grateful that Spencer has chosen to share his talents with our community through this clever use of technology. This easy to use application will allow families to tour our school and to gather information before making a personal visits. We are excited about future possibilities as well and hope to partner with Spencer to enhance existing offerings on our website.
